Ezekiel Cheever is the person that said this quote, he is speaking to Mr. Hale. The significance is that he found a poppet tha Mary Wa rren gave to Goody Proctor. It seemed to be vudu doll; used for witchery.

This gave Cheever proof to arrest Elizabeth for the witchcraft that she was accused of by Abigail. The literary element was irony because even though she never did any of this she was still arrested for the crime of witchcraft.

ReplyDeleteCheever is talking to mr hale when they found a needle in the voodoo doll that was found in elizabeths's house. This gives the judges eveidence that elizaneth was doing voodoo but the ironic part was that elizabeth was not ptracticing voodoo.
Cheever talking to Mr.Hale. Cheever thinks that Elizabeth is using this as a voodoo doll against Abigail. The irony is that Abigail told Mary Warren to stick the needle into the doll, probably in hopes that it would cause Elizabeth to be hung for witchcraft.
