Who said it? Who is the speaker talking to? What is the significance to the play? Do you recognize any literary elements?

  1. Danforth is talking to John Proctor. He is trying to save innocent lives. He's not trying to overthrow the court. Literary element is quest.

  2. Danforth is speaking to John Proctor. Danforth is trying to help Proctor claim his inocence. And at this point in the play Danforth is trying to help as much as he can to a certain degree. I also agree with Phillip and that the literary element is quest.

    At that point they accused elizabeth, so he got Mary Warren to confess that the group of girls were lying. Danforth didn't trust him cause he thought he was trying to over throw the court.
